This task reflects the child-centeredness of each Reading Intervention Program. Since this young boy’s first language is Filipino, and has yet emerging ESL skills – he was asked to sequence four story-events of a bilingual book. After which, he was given a chance to re-tell the story first in Filipino, and then in English (with guidance).
The following is a transcript of his oral enumeration of the story-events, based on the graphics provided.

Una, si Onyok ay mahiyain na manok. Pangalawa, akala niya pinagtatawanan siya ng mga ibang manok. Pangatlo, kinausap siya ng Mama niya. Pang-huli, marunong na siyang tiktilaok.
In English
First, Onyok is shy. Second, Onyok [thought the others are] laughing [at him]. Third, (Who talked to him?) [his] Mama [talked to him]. And last, Onyok can tiktilaok.

Jimmy is a six year-old boy who is about to enter “big school” as a first grader. He just finished his second program , the components of which are spelling, reading, expressive language and vocabulary development.
