How to Make a Lantern

Fun activities were given to our students to engage them in writing. This summer program, Gelo an incoming grade 3 student made a beach lantern since he enjoys art activities.  He was asked to retell the steps using signal words after doing the activity. Gelo did the initial editing for his work. Final editing still needs to be done.

First, get the materials: crepe paper, glue, bleach, folder, cotton buds, scissors, tape, yarn, sequins, and stapler. Second, get a rectangle size crepe paper and bleach. Then, put bleach on crepe paper by using cotton buds to design the crepe paper. Third, cut the folder to put on the top and bottom sides of the crepe paper. Fourth, make it into a circle by joining both sides of the crepe paper. Fifth, put a yarn on top as a handle and last, put sequins on the lantern.
